Days after the release of the BJP's first list of candidates for the 2019 polls, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari filed his nomination from Nagpur, Maharashtra for the Lok Sabha elections. 

Hours after filing his nomination, Nitin Gadkari went ahead to the BJP headquarters in New Delhi for the party's CEC meeting. Outside the BJP headquarters, the Union Minister met his senior colleague and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and welcomed her with a heartwarming gesture.

Sushma Swaraj, who also reached the office for the CEC meeting, was welcomed by Nitin Gadkari at the party headquarters with a salutation with folded hands and bowed down to her with folded hands as a gesture of respect. 

Seeing Nitin Gadkari's heartfelt gesture, Sushma Swaraj gave a pat on his back and gave her blessing to him, ahead of his election contest from Nagpur constituency.

Earlier, on his chances of retaining his Nagpur Lok Sabha seat, Nitin Gadkari had said that he's fully confident about victory and that he 'will win by over five lakh votes.'

He said, "Party has expressed its faith in me, I will win with an even better margin this time. People of Nagpur supported me last time as well. They are happy with our work, we will do even better after getting elected again."

In the 2014 elections, he had beaten the second-placed Congress candidate by almost 3 lakh votes.
