A day after AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was slapped during a roadshow in the Moti Nagar area of the national capital, the Police has registered an FIR against Suresh, the who had slapped him.
The FIR has been registered under IPC Section 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) at the Moti Nagar Police station.
The Delhi Chief Minister was attacked during a roadshow in the national capital. 33-year-old Suresh, who slapped the AAP convener, has been identified as a scrap dealer in the area and a former supporter of the ruling party in Delhi. Reportedly, he slapped Arvind Kejriwal because he was dissatisfied with the behaviour of the party leaders in the national capital.
Kejriwal was atop an open jeep when the man wearing a red t-shirt jumped onto the vehicle and slapped the chief minister before being pulled off the jeep.
"An enquiry by a DCP-level officer has been ordered to enquire as to how this person was allowed to be in the reception or proximate group," Anil Mittal, Additional PRO (Delhi Police) said.
In a statement, the Aam Aadmi Party condemned the attack on its chief and blamed the security for negligence.
Furthermore, AAP leader and Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia claimed that BJP is hatching a conspiracy against the party and its national convenor while also accusing Delhi Police of letting the attack happen. He tweeted saying, "Do Modi-Shah want to kill Kejriwal? Since you could not break his will, defeat him in the elections despite using all force for the last five years, you want to remove him from the race in this way, you cowards!"
