Gautam Gambhir calls rival Atishi Marlena 'visionless', rubbishes her claims over his name being registered in two constituencies

Slamming Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Lok Sabha candidate for East Delhi Atishi Marlena for alleging that her BJP rival Gautam Gambhir is listed twice in the electoral roll, the cricketer-turned-politician Gambhir, on Sunday, said that people without any vision did such negative politics and that the Election Commission would decide about the matter.

Slamming Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Lok Sabha candidate for East Delhi Atishi Marlena for alleging that Gautam Gambhir is listed twice in the electoral roll, the cricketer-turned-politician Gambhir, on Sunday, said that people without any vision did such negative politics and that the Election Commission would decide about the matter.

Trouble For Gautam Gambhir? AAP's Atishi Marlena Files Criminal Complaint Against BJP Contender Alleging He Has Two Voter IDs, Posts 'proof'

Earlier on Friday, Marlena tweeted a photo displaying electoral rolls of two constituencies (Rajinder Nagar(39) and Karol Bagh(23)) both featuring Gautam Gambhir's name. She alleged that this meant that Gambhir would face imminent disqualification from the Lok Sabha polls.

Following this, she has also filed a criminal complaint against the cricketer-turned-politician at the Tis Hazari court.

While the BJP candidate has mentioned in his election nomination affidavit to the Returning Officer that he is only registered to vote in the Assembly constituency Rajinder Nagar-39, he has also gotten into trouble with the EC for holding arally without permission. The EC has directed the East Delhi returning officer to file an FIR against Gambhir for the same under the Delhi Police Act.

After Gambhir slamming Marlena on Sunday, the AAP MP took to Twitter to respond to his claims, writing:

(It is possible, Gautam Gambhir that I do not possess any vision, but at least the votes cast for me will not go to waste. No voter in East Delhi will vote for you, because your nomination is going to be disqualified for sure.)

She also questioned why he(Gambhir) was not denying her allegations or providing proof for discrediting her claims.

(Second: If my allegations are wrong, then Gautam Gambhir, you should deny it or provide sufficient evidence to prove my claims false. Why are you avoiding the question?)

East Delhi Lok Sabha seat will witness a compelling triangular contest between three candidates - new entrant cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir, Congress' Arvinder Singh Lovely and AAP candidate Atishi Marlena.

Delhi will see polling in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Phase 6 on May 12. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
