A day after Delhi Chief Minister and were slapped during his poll-rally, former Delhi Chief Minister and Congress leader Sheila Dikshit came in support of the leader and expressed her solidarity.

Addressing a press briefing, Dikshit said: "We condemn the attack on Arvind Kejriwal. Such attacks should not happen no matter who is the leader."

While Dikshit is known for her fierce on Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government, this is the first time when she has supported the leader. It was rumoured that when AAP was trying to strike a deal with the Rahul Gandhi-led Congress, it was constant opposition from the Dikshit that led to the ultimate fall-out of the talks.

AAP has alleged the involvement of BJP in the attack on the Delhi CM. In a press conference on Sunday, Kejriwal said:

"This was the 9th attack on me in the last 5 years and 5th attack after becoming Chief Minister. I don't think in India's 70 years of history, there have been such attacks on any Chief Minister. Leave aside 9 attacks, I don't think, even a single CM has been attacked in this country. In this country, Delhi CM is the only CM whose security's responsibility is in the hands of the opposition party," Kejriwal said during the press conference.

Meanwhile, politicians across the spectrum, from Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav have come in support of Kejriwal.

On Saturday, Kejriwal was slapped by a man while campaigning for New Delhi AAP candidate Brijesh Goyal in a roadshow. 33-year-old Suresh, who slapped the AAP convener, has been identified as a scrap dealer in the area and a former supporter of the ruling party in Delhi. Reportedly, he slapped Arvind Kejriwal because he was dissatisfied with the behaviour of the party leaders in the national capital.
