Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from East Delhi Atishi Marlena broke down while addressing a press conference on Thursday, claiming that her BJP rival Gautam Gambhir circulated pamphlet with derogatory comments on her in the Lok Sabha constituency ahead of the polls in the National Capital.
During the press briefing, Atishi Marlena alleged that BJP and Gautam Gambhir distributed pamphlets titled: "Atishi Marlena - Know your candidate".
"Today how low can he and his party stoop, he and his party has shown. This is a pamphlet which BJP people and Gautam Gambhir have distributed in my entire Lok Sabha, different complexes and media. Now when put this pamphelet in front of the media, then the entire country should know what kind of politics is being played in our country, especially against a woman. A person like me did not enter into politics because I wanted fame and money," she said while addressing the media.
Atishi broke down while reading the content of the pamphlet which contained derogatory remarks against her, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. After reading the contents of the pamphlet, she posed one question at BJP's Gautam Gambhir.
"I have only one question for Gautam Gambhir. If he is doing this to win the elections against one woman who is contesting against him, then what will do for the lakhs of women in east Delhi who are worried about their safety," she added.
AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal further tweeted that he "Never imagined Gautam Gambhir to stoop so low. How can women expect safety if people wid such mentality are voted in?"
East Delhi is set to witness fierce battle between contenders Atishi Marlena and Gautam Gambhir who have been locking horns on social media ahead of the polls. Besides Marlena and Gambhir, Congress' Arvinder Singh Lovely is also in the electoral foray.
