Weeks ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2019, BJP released its second list of candidates for Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra and Odisha polls on late Friday night. The list announced BJP national spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra's contest in the 2019 elections from Odisha's Puri constituency.
In the light of the move by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Dr Sambit Patra took to Twitter to extend thank you message to PM Modi, party president Amit Shah and other CEC members for his candidature from Odisha's Puri. In the tweet, he thanked the BJP's CEC members for reposing faith in him to make him contest from the 'abode of Lord Jagannath - PURI'.
He further congratulated all the other candidates for their contest in the 2019 polls:
After announcing the second list for candidates, Union Minister and BJP leader JP Nadda said: "We have come out with list of 36 new candidates which includes Odisha BJP President Basant Panda, senior leader Suresh Pujari & our spokesperson Sambit Patra. We would like to clear the 1st & 2nd phase candidates as soon as possible & we're working on it."
The list announced late on Friday night also contained names of six candidates for Maharashtra and five for Odisha. Also, one candidate each for Assam and Meghalaya has been announced in the list.
The party had released its first list of 184 candidates on Thursday which confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will once again contest from Varanasi, his parliamentary seat.
