Just a few days ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, PM Narendra Modi has given an exclusive interview to Republic Media Network's Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami.
In the interview, PM Modi spoke about the Opposition which has been relentless in its efforts to discredit the air-strikes by the Indian Air Force following the Pulwama attack.
PM Modi was asked whether the personal attack on him by the Opposition which said that the Pulwama attack was a conspiracy - a "match-fixing" by PM Modi and Pakistan - was for elections.
"This question can be answered by those who are used to making personal attacks. Making everything a personal attack is their habit. No person in this country can doubt the patriotism of Narendra Modi. Nobody can do it. My life speaks for me, I don't need words."
"Secondly, if this thinking exists in the leadership of a political party, then the nation should be worried that people of such mentality can go to any limit for political gains."
"It's a big attack, the entire world stands with us in solidarity, terrorism is an issue, India can play a big role in the global fight against terrorism. At such a time, by playing such dirty politics, they are damaging the nation, and they haven't thought about it. The issue is not Modi. This is a warning bell for the nation if such thinking and language are used. And what happened? They said it with great enthusiasm. But when people showed negative sentiment, they were forced to keep quiet. Now they don't speak, they are scared now. They have realised now. If there is any truth to the allegations, if they have conviction, then they should make it an election issue. They should go and tell people. They should show this courage. And let the people decide," the Prime Minister said.
A Congress MP on March 7 made a distasteful remark claiming a terror attack in Pulwama took place with PM Modi and his Pakistani counterpart working hand in hand.
"Ravi Shankar Prasad should clarify whether there was any match-fixing between Pakistan and Narendra Modi. Or else, without their knowledge, this Pulwama instance would not have taken place," BK Hariprasad had said.
