Reacting to reports of BJP's Gurdaspur candidate Sunny Deol leading as per early results, Deol has said that he will focus his efforts on making Gurdaspur an ideal constituency.
"While I am happy for the favourable result, I always wait for the completion of a task before commenting. Let the counting conclude, I will be here only. Modiji is winning. I have full faith in people that they will vote for me. Now I will join with PM Modi and make our constituency an ideal constituency. I am not afraid of responsibilities. I will definitely do my best," said Deol.
As of 11:55 AM, Sunny Deol leads the battle for the Gurdaspur constituency by gathering 256871 votes with respect to Congress' Suni Jhakar who trails with 207608 votes, as per the EC. Early results have seen the NDA leading in 337 seats while its major rival UPA was leading in 100 seats as of 11:55 AM.
Earlier, talking to Republic Media Network Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami as reports of BJP MP Babul Supriyo leading in Asansol emerged on Thursday, Supriyo expressed his happiness on the favourable result calling it a victory for democracy.
"Democracy is winning. In all our meeting discussing Trinamool's exit polls failing has come true. We are leading by almost 36,000 votes after second and third round polling," said Supriyo.
Apart from him, Union Minister and BJP's candidate from Jaipur rural Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore spoke to the media expressing his exuberance over the party's performance and credited PM Narendra Modi for the success.
"Our ideology is about nationalism and making everyone strong. The party has served every citizen of the country. The credit goes to the leader, PM Modi," he said.
