In this special broadcast of 'On The Road', Republic Media Network featured Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal. She is one politician who has kept the focus of her campaign strictly local. Her election speeches in villages across the dusty tracts of her family borough Lambi bordering Haryana and Rajasthan are marked by "gali, naali and dharamshala" (street, drain and community centre) issues.
Traditionally, Bathinda seat, which is also known as Punjab's cotton belt, has been considered as the stronghold of the Akali Dal as its candidates have won from here on eight occasions.
However, Harsimrat has a tough contest at hand as she faces three MLAs — Amrinder Singh Raja Warring of the state’s ruling Congress, Punjab Ekta Party (PEP) chief Sukhpal Singh Khaira and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) nominee Baljinder Kaur in Bathinda Lok Sabha Constituency.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal is pulling out all the stops to score a hattrick from the constituency.
