Anupam Kher took to the streets of Chandigarh, where actor-wife and BJP MP Kirron Kher is contesting from, as the constituency went to polls in the seventh and last phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Sunday. The actor turned a journalist of sorts to interview a first-time voter. The youngster asserting that she voted for India’s progress and economic growth impressed the veteran immensely.
Kher shared a video from close to a polling booth in the city where he is seen asking a girl on camera her name, whether she voted and if she was excited about it. Kopal Sharma, who is a gymnast, replied, “Feeling very good. Came to vote early in the morning.”
The actor quips, “I thought you came to meet me with your mother.” She replies, “If I knew you were here, I would’ve come to vote even earlier.”
The ‘A Wednesday’ star then asks, “On what basis did you cast your vote? I won’t ask you who you voted for.”
The youngster was more open, “You know who I voted for. Everyone knows, everyone is voting for that person. I thought about India before voting, so that India makes progress, there is GDP growth and our economy flourishes.”
Kher was impressed, “Wow! That’s amazing!” and conveyed his blessings and wishes to her so that makes the country proud as a gymnast.

Anupam Kher had campaigned for Kirron Kher in Chandigarh previously.
Even then, he had shared a video of the sentiments of the people of the city towards the ruling party.
Kirron Kher is the sitting Member of Parliament from Chandigarh after she beat Pawan Kumar Bansal in 2014. The actor-politician is pitted against the Congress leader once again. Aam Aadmi Party, meanwhile, has replaced 2014 candidate Gul Panag with Harmohan Dhawan. The Lok Sabha elections results will be announced on May 23.
