On one of the most important days of his political career, Sunny Deol filed his nomination as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Gurdaspur and also delivered a power-packed debut speech. Incidentally, it was an important day for his city of residence, Mumbai, too as it went to polls in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha polls. The actor-politician's father Dharmendra too exercised his franchise. Query about his son’s political foray was obvious, and the veteran actor replied that Sunny will serve the nation just like he did when he was Member of Parliament from Bikaner.
On his way out after casting his vote, Dharmendra was asked about the elections and Sunny’s political entry. The ‘Sholay’ star replied, “We don’t know the ABC of politics, but we are filled with patriotism. We will work for the country.
“See what all I have done in Bikaner and inform people what Dharmendra has done. Sunny will also serve the nation.”
