Election Security beefed up in Rajasthan ahead of assembly polls

Election security has been boosted up in poll-bound Rajasthan, ahead of the polls. As per OP Galhotra, Director General of Police, Rajasthan police have made heavy security preparations for the upcoming elections.

"There have been cases where around 55000 kgs of drugs have been during the election time. We have registered a total of 1050 cases in the matter and arrested more than 1300 people from various parts of Rajasthan ahead of elections." 

Police have identified 7191 sensitive booths in the state with central paramilitary forces to be deployed at those booths. Also, high-ended security with the help of video surveillance will be ensured at more than 11000 semi-sensitive booths, Rajasthan police has stated.

According to DGP Galhotra, three-tier security will be ensured in every constituency and a senior officer will lead the team. Under the senior officers, there will be adequate deployment of forces. Three flying squads, three quick response teams, and three static police parties are scheduled to be present with paramilitary forces in every constituency in poll-bound Rajasthan.

He went onto state that there will be heavy nakabandi at international border areas to ensure that there is no outer border influence. He also added that the police will take care of the highly sensitive booths of Sawaimadhopur and Dudu and relevant actions will be taken to maintain peace and safety.

"Total 640 teams of paramilitary forces has been deployed to ensure safe and fair elections in Rajasthan. Rajasthan police has been known for its fair and tight election security service and this time also it will be ensured."

As per the DGP, on inter state borders, Rajasthan Police have maintained good relations with the police of the neighbouring states such that the police from nearby states will help in the adequate security during the election process.

Furthermore, in many sensitive areas, Section 144 has been imposed before elections and all kind of security concerns have been addressed.

Rajasthan is all set to go into polls on December 7 and the counting of votes will take place on December 11.
