Reacting to the trends at 11 am on December 11, which suggested that Congress is set to break the halfway mark in Rajasthan and form the next government, party's possible CM candidate Sachin Pilot expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his party, and was confident that Congress will come out victorious in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh as well.
Speaking to the media, at the time of counting when Congress was being projected to get 100 seats, Pilot said, "From the early trends, it is very clear that the Congress party will come to power with full majority. We should wait for the final result, but the indications in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and in Rajasthan confirms Congresss will form the government. It is the hard work of the Congress workers in the last five years that we are growing from 21 seats to attaining full majority."
A big question which will be asked of Congress, should they get majority, is that who will be their CM. While a number of workers have backed Ashok Gehlot to return as CM, others have put their weight behind Pilot. But according to Pilot himself, it will be the party leadership which will decide on this.
"It will be the party which will decide who gets what portfolio. The decision will be taken by the Congress high command, Rahul Gandhi, senior leaders, who will all sit together and chalk the strategy. Today is a very auspicious day. On this day, last year, Rahul Gandhi became the party president. So I doubt there is no better gift for him than seeing Congress coming to power in three states where BJP were ruling," he added.
