The Polling in 199 out of 200 seats in Rajasthan is underway, which will decide the fate of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje facing a tough challenge from the resurgent Congress. While the BJP is looking forward to retain the power with its bigwigs spearheading the campaign, the Congress on the other side is quite confident that it will unseat Raje.
Amid the voting process, clashes have broken out between two communities in Rajasthan's Sikar. Two people have been grievously injured in the violence. As per initial information, the police reached the spot to take charge of the situation but the harm was already done. The two have been shifted to a nearby hospital and are undergoing treatment.
In a similar incident, voters at two polling booths in Jalore's Ahor constituency created ruckus after voting was halted due to technical EVM malfunction. Glitches related to voting machines were reported at several places. Despite that, Voter turnout recorded till 1 PM in Rajasthan assembly elections is 41.53%.
Meanwhile, the state underwent a chaotic pre-polling phase where there was drama within the Congress as its party members, out of dicontent, had taken violent protests over the distribution of tickets.
