BJP's poll in-charge and Union Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javadekar announced on Thursday that Beniwal, who is currently an MLA from Khinvsar, will contest Lok Sabha polls on Nagaur seat as RLP candidate.

Moreover, commenting on his newly forged alliance with the BJP,  Hanuman Beniwal recalled the time he was a part of the ruling party:

"My roots have been in the BJP and, therefore, I am more comfortable with the BJP. I took the decision as my workers were in support of this alliance," he said.

He added that his party workers in Rajasthan as well as in the neighbouring states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will support the BJP to ensure the victory of the saffron party's candidates to ensure that Narendra Modi becomes the prime minister again.

Jat leader Beniwal, who was suspended from BJP in 2013 over anti-party activities, had floated his own party RLP ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections in Rajasthan last year. His new party also managed to win three seats, including:

  • Khinvsar- Hanuman Beniwal
  • Merta- Indira Devi
  • Bhopalgarh- Pukhraj

Unlike the BJP, which is yet announce its list of candidates for the state, the Congress party has already put out its list in the poll fray.

BJP will contest the 24 seats in Rajasthan along with RLP contesting on one seat. The opposition Congress which won the assembly elections a few months back has fielded former MP Jyoti Mirdha in Nagaur.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP clean swept the state winning all the seats.
