Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Rajasthan's Bharatpur election officer sends a hidden message through colourful 'Vote rangolis' ahead of Phase 5 polling

As Rajasthan prepares to vote for 12 seats in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls, the election officers in the various constituencies seem to be on their creative best to encourage more voters to come out and get inked on Monday, May 6.

One such instance has emerged from the creative depths of Bharatpur, Rajasthan where an officer associated with Election Commission India's flagship program for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India - SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation), had created several colourful rangolis made of coloured rice granules, beads and various coloured stones.

Each rangoli had a different pattern and conveyed a unique message promoting voting. Here are the pictures of these colourful democratically aware creations:

This one is a collection of circles comprising of the tricolour featured in the Indian flag with a message written on rice particles in the center reading: "If you have the feeling of patriotism, do cast your vote."

This image also is designed in a circular fashion with vibrant red and gold stones and dyed yellow and red rice particles, with a message written on rice particles in the center reading: "The biggest festival of all is the voting day."

The last one features a rangoli in the shape of the Indian peninsula. While the map is highlighted with silver stones, the inner landscape is filled with the tricolour -saffron, white and green dyed rice particles. This also conveys a message written on white rice particles surrounded by blue beads saying: "To show your duty of protecting democracy, go and cast your vote. Make our country strong and get back good tidings into the country."

SVEEP had previously arranged a 'Vote baraat' in Bhadra, Rajasthan to promote voter education before Phase 5 polls.

On May 6,  polling will take place in 12 Parliamentary Constituency (PCs) namely Ganganagar, Bikaner, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur Rural, Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, Dausa and Nagaur. Bharatpur which is a reserved seat for the Scheduled Caste category will see BJP's Ranjeeta Kohli battling Congress' Abhijit Kumar Jatav who is endorsed by the former Maharaja of Bharatpur Vishwendra Singh, who held the Bharatpur seat since the 1990s on May 6.
