The second phase of the Indian General Elections started on Thursday and with Tamil Nadu voting for the first time, several Kollywood stars were snapped at the polling booths. One of them was Dhanush, who cast his vote in Chennai.
Dressed in an all-white avatar of a shirt and veshti, the ‘VIP 2’ star got surrounded by media persons and others at the booth as the officials applied ink was on his finger before he cast his vote. The actor-singer-director later proudly flaunted his inked finger while posing for the cameras.
Dhanush had tweeted to his followers after midnight to 'think and vote' and termed it as an ‘important’ responsibility. He wrote, “Think and VOTE !! It’s important that you do.”
Earlier in the day, superstars Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, along with daughter Shruti Haasan, Suriya-Jyothika, Karthi, Ajith-Shalini, AR Rahman, Prakash Raj, who’s contesting as an Independent Candidate, also cast their votes.
Candidate for Congress, Raj Babbar, was among the other celebrities associated with the film industry who voted in Uttar Pradesh.
With 95 seats, 1619 candidates and 179880 polling booths at disposition the states that have gone to polls on Thursday are -
Assam (5 seats), Bihar (5 seats), Chhattisgarh (3 seats), Jammu and Kashmir (2 seats), Karnataka (14 seats), Maharashtra (10 seats), Manipur (1 seat), Odisha (5 seats), Tamil Nadu (38 seats), Uttar Pradesh (8 seats), West Bengal(3 seats) and Puducherry (1 seat).
