"KCR will faint at final rally": Congress makes sensational allegation at climax of Telangana campaign

On the last day of poll campaigning in Telangana, the Congress has made a stunning charge against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).

As per a quote given by Telangana Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy to news agency ANI, there is a plot of the TRS that in KCR's last rally in Gajwel, scheduled for 4 pm, he will become unconscious and be taken to a hospital. The motive here, as per the Congress, is to gain sympathy. Reddy said that he had got the information from a source.

The sensational allegation by the Congress comes at the culmination of weeks of frantic campaigning in Telangana, which goes to polls on December 7.

The Congress, which has allied with TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu and the Left, has fielded some of its biggest assets in the state, including UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who made a rare campaign speech a few weeks ago and then again issued a video appeal to the state's voters on Tuesday.

In the video message, Sonia Gandhi said:

"Brothers and sisters of Telangana. Namaskaram. December 7 is the day when you will vote for your MLAs. Your vote is the vote not only for the future of Telangana but for your future as well. 4.5 years ago a separate state of Telangana was created. I too played a role in making it happen. But you have been betrayed by those in power in Hyderabad. Now is the time, wherever you are in Telangana, to fulfill your hopes and expectations, your desires and aspirations. I appeal to you personally to vote for the Praja Kutami. Jai Hind, Jai Telangana"

Allegations and barbs have been traded right left and centre during campaigning, including charges that the non-BJP non-Congress parties, including TRS and AIMIM (both allies), are actually B-teams or C-teams working at the behest of the national parties. There have also been 'dynasty' attacks levelled by the Congress against the TRS and by the Prime Minister against the Congress, TRS, TDP and AIMIM. Finally, a furious exchange had taken place between the Owaisi brothers and UP CM Yogi Adityanath over his remark that Asaduddin Owaisi would have to flee Telangana just had the 'Nizam had fled Hyderabad' if the BJP comes to power, and that the BJP would rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar.

Vote counting will take place on December 11.
