Congress Working President Kodangal MLA Revanth Reddy was taken into preventive custody by the state police in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Ten police officials reached Reddy's residence and broke open his door and barged into his home and detained him. The MLA's supporters demanded the cops ID and had an argument with them over the detention.

As per the police, a notice was issued against him for an alleged threat to obstruct KCR meeting in Kodangal which is scheduled to be later today. Reddy had threatened to stop the rally of the state CM KCR Rao in Kodangal alleging he was involved in corruption.

According to reports, the police has said that they detained the leader on the orders of the Election Commission (EC).

Congress has protested against this move and has decided to approach the Election Commission and had called the act of detaining 'discriminatory and dictatorial'.

GN Reddy from Congress said, "Preventive custody is taken against those who do hooliganism. Revanth Reddy has called for a bandh. Doen't he have that right? Telangana was given by the Congress. Soniaji has love for Telangana. KCR is misusing the police, the manner in which police entered his bedroom, has never happened in India. Now we are seeing Kandahar-like episode. Police has also gone overboard. The DGP must take action.

Revanth Reddy is not an ordinary man, he is a Brahmos missile and this missile is going to finish TRS," he said.

Karnataka's Congress MLA from Kanakapura DK Shivkumar reacted on Twitter:
