UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has made an appeal to the people of Telangana to vote for the alliance of the Congress, TDP and others in the December 7 polls.

Taking to Twitter via the Mahila Congress account, the former Congress president has emphasised on the importance of the day:

"Brothers and sisters of Telangana. Namaskaram. December 7 is the day when you will vote for your MLAs. Your vote is the vote not only for the future of Telangana but for your future as well", she begins.

Going on to describe the alliance with Chandrababu Naidu's TDP, she says, "The Praja Kutami of the Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI is your voice. It is your alliance -- an alliance for each and every section of Telangana society."

As she had done a few weeks ago at a rare election rally speech, she spoke about her role in the creation of Telangana, though she didn't go as far as she had then by alluding to herself as being a 'mother' of the state: "4.5 years ago a separate state of Telangana was created. I too played a role in making it happen. But you have been betrayed by those in power in Hyderabad."

"Now is the time, wherever you are in Telangana, to fulfill your hopes and expectations, your desires and aspirations. I appeal to you personally to vote for the Praja Kutami. Jai Hind, Jai Telangana", she concluded.

A specific feature of the Telangana election campaigning has been each party alleging that the other is a B-team or C-team of the Congress or the BJP. The parties that have been lumped into this bucket are the ruling KCR-led TRS, which Rahul Gandhi had accused of playing a fixed match, and the AIMIM, which the Congress has called the BJP's C-team.

Speaking to Republic TV, Asaduddin Owaisi rubbished this allegation by harkening back to how his party earlier used to be called the F-team of the Congress, so being a B-team or C-team quantified as an improvement.

At the other end, there is the inescapable fact that two parties that were fundamentally opposed to one another -- Congress and TDP -- have come together for these elections.

The other aspect has been dynasty politics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi went all out, explaining how every one of the principal competitors of the BJP were in one way or another, dynastic parties.

Finally, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has engaged in what became a major flashpoint versus the Owaisis, claiming that if the BJP came to power, Asaduddin Owaisi would have to flee Telangana as the 'Nizam fled Hyderabad', and that Hyderabad's name would be changed to Bhagyanagar.
