Kickstarting his election rallies, days ahead of the Lok Sabha polls Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Telangana asked the people to vote for ‘new bharat’ where ‘chowkidar’ remains alert so that citizens can move forward without any fear.
"On April 11, you are not just going to select an MP or vote for a Prime Minister, but will be voting for a new India, which will be reflective of the aspirations of Telangana," PM Modi said.
Battering the KCR-led TRS government in Telangana, Modi said that they insulted people’s mandate by delaying the formation of the cabinet, even after they secured a massive win last year. He mocked the astrological beliefs of Rao and said that Rao has only helped his own family members and has done nothing for the welfare of the state. He asked the people if they wish their future to be guided by astrology, commenting on Rao’s decision of advancing the assembly elections
In his first election rally in Telangana, the Prime Minister described Rao as the face of dynastic and appeasement politics. He added that despite abuses and attacks against him, he had been able to move his development projects due to ‘blessings of people.’ He touched upon numerous topics, ranging from civic amenities to space.
Highlighting the achievements of the BJP government in the centre, Modi said that they have taken all possible steps for the security of women and farmers. His 45-minute speech targeted KCR and TRS and accused the TRS government of presenting the centre's scheme as its own. Talking about the security of the nation, he said that bomb blasts are now only confined to some pockets in Kashmir. His speech made a reference to India as space power on the success of 'Mission Shakti,' after an A-SAT missile had shot down a low earth orbit satellite.
Telangana went on assembly polls last year and K Chandrashekhar Rao’s TRS won while the BJP won only one seat. BJP will now contest all the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The state polls in a single phase on April 11 and the results are on May 23.
