Hours ahead of counting of votes for the 17th Lok Sabha elections, BJP's candidate from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, Jaya Prada spoke about her chances in the poll and about her rival from Samajwadi Party Azam Khan.
She said that if divine luck favoured her, she would 'break Azam Khan's arrogance'
"In this dharma-yudh, we will win. I pray for people's aspiration that PM Modi gets a second term manifests. This is a battle for women's pride and poor people's voice. If God wants and will give me a chance, then I will break the arrogance of Azam Khan," she said.
A bitter battle was fought between her and Khan for Rampur which was rife with sexist comments targeted at the former actress and film star.
Azam Khan and his son Abdullah had made shameful remarks at her.
Prada had earlier while speaking exclusively to Republic's Bharat had also spoke about the top SP leaders alienating her when she was in the party.
"Mulayam Singh and Akhilesh Singh too started treating me like a stranger. Even after making me an MLA, no leader supported me against the atrocities done by Azam Khan," she said.
Recounting about a humiliating treatment meted out by Khan, she said that had not been allowed to avail of the government guesthouse facilities at Rampur, inspite of being the ruling MLA of Rampur in 2009.
"Inspite being a ruling MLA in 2009, I could not stay in Rampur after working for the whole day. Immediately, I would get a call from Azam Khan saying 'If you stay here (government guest house), your house will be bulldozed. Even for eating meals, I could not avail the guest house. I would eat in my car or in some constituent's house. I used to roam 12 villages and used to return to the hotel at midnight. They always told me there was no room," she added.
