In a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, former party leader Amar Singh said that he (Akhilesh Yadav) is like Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb who conspired against his father to grab power. He further commented on the 'hypocrisy of Mayawati' to support Azam Khan who once gave a disgraceful 'sitting on the lap' remark against her.
Amar Singh was talking on Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati sharing the same stage on Friday, after almost 24 years.
"This Azam Khan once said that 'Mayawati cleans the shoes of the bureaucrats' and the infamous 'sit on the lap' comment, and now Mayawati is supporting that man and his party."
In the infamous Guest house episode in 1995, MLAs and workers of the SP surrounded the guest house and went on the rampage, forcing Mayawati to lock herself in a room while they detained several of her MLAs. Then BJP MLA Brahm Dutt Dwivedi, who was present, is believed to have stepped in to protect Mayawati against possible physical assault by the SP leaders and workers. It was around the same time when Azam Khan gave his disgraceful remark on Mayawati. After this incident, Mayawati broke all ties with the SP, and made an alliance only after 23 years during the Gorakhpur-Phulpur bypolls last year.
Amar Singh further questioned the tussle between SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav, following which he was made the party chief.
"My second question is Akhilesh Yadav disrespected his father Mulayam Singh, his uncle Shivpal Singh and senior leaders like us. Afzan Ansari is now a candidate of Akhilesh Yadav and Mukhtaar Ansari's son is now promoting Akhilesh Yadav which means Ansaris were just an excuse. Akhilesh is like Aurangzeb who toppled his father for dynasty."
Before leaving for Rampur to campaign for Azam Khan's opponent Jaya Prada, Amar Singh took a 'langot' jibe at Azam Khan
