Irking the political world, following the derogatory below-the-belt 'Khaki' remark by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on BJP's Jaya Prada, BJP president Amit Shah has demanded an apology from the leader, his party and its allies.
While addressing a rally in Kodinar, Gujarat Amit Shah has called for an apology from Khan and his party Samajwadi Party and its ally the BSP.
He said, "Not only Azam Khan, but both Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party should apologize to the crores of women in our country."
Khan, who is in the fray from Rampur on the SP ticket, made the obnoxious remark in the presence of former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and other senior party leaders, who were present on the dais.
Denouncing the disgraceful remark by the SP leader who is fighting the Rampur seat on BJP's ticket in Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister stated that 'politics and respect for women are two different things.'
Speaking to media, Smriti Irani said that politics and respect for women are two different things and must be kept apart.
"Lewd comments were being made on a woman and all the leaders of Samajwadi Party were sitting idle on the stage. They were listening quietly to whatever was being said. They must know that politics and respect for women are two different things. Today, people who were sitting idle and did not break their silence on such a lewd comment will have to give their answer to the society, that is politics greater than a woman's dignity and respect in current times."
