With a two-day countdown underway to the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, in a fresh political development, BJP candidate Jaya Prada censured Samajwadi Party's Azam Khan, her poll contender in Rampur.

During the rally on Monday, she launched a verbal attack on her former SP colleague saying that he obstructed her entry at 'guest houses, hotels and houses', also mentioning how she had to quit Akhilesh Yadav's SP out of helplessness.

She said, "You elected me twice in 2004 and 2009 but then I had to leave. I am grateful that you have brought me again,"

"He stopped my entry at guest houses, hotels and even to family homes. All this began after my win in 2009. It's a long story," she added.

Retaliating to Azam Khan's 'naachne gaane wali' remark, Prada expressed her 'sadness' over his 'abuses'

She said, "People treat me like a family member and it's people like Azam and SP workers who sadly refer to me as 'naachne gaane wali.' (an entertainer) I called him my brother, but he hurls abuses," she added.

She further added how 'celebs' have a voice and thus the ability to 'change the society' citing Union Minister Smriti Irani and BJP leader Hema Malini, moreover dismissing the allegation that celebrities are roped in to add 'glamour touch'

She said, "Smritiji and Hemaji are both seniors. Celebs have a voice and can change society. We are fighting to make Modiji PM again."

On being asked about the difference in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls as compared to her earlier bids, Jaya Prada showered praises on her BJP cadres.

She said, "With the BJP cadre around with me, things have become much easier. I had to manage things earlier on my own but with the cadre support this time, it is quite easy to manage them."

Earlier on April 3, the newly inducted BJP leader had a breakdown in the middle of her speech while addressing the crowd in Rampur. At that moment the crowd started chanting slogans in her support.
