While campaigning for wife and BJP candidate Kirron Kher in Chandigarh, Bollywood actor Anupam Kher heaped praises for PM Narendra Modi and claimed that there is 'no leader who matches his stature'
Ahead of Kirron Kher's nomination, amid the rally the actor expressed his confidence over his wife's victory. Kher stated that the Opposition leaders fail to bring their vision for the country, but only want to pull Modi down.
He said, "The critics of this government can say what they want, but in the past 5 years there are no corruption scandals, no matter what some people say, nothing happened we know. PM Modi doesn't want anything, he said it once that 'I can with a jhola and will leave with one', so keeping his credibility in mind, small small things should not be given attention."
"Whoever the Opposition leaders are, they should speak about their vision for India's future, and not by saying we want to remove him. As an individual I feel, its a very unfortunate thing that no matter what you say in your manifesto, you mission is to remove him (Modi), but on what basis? and why?" he added.
Further appreciating Modi for his work, the actor stated that PM Modi is a 'great leader'
He said, "He is not a dynast, he came up from grassroot level. He was a Chief Minister for 15 years, then a Prime Minister for 5 years wherein he took the country ahead. He has been a great leader and that is his strength and those who speak ill about him that is their weakness. They should show their strength, that this is how we will take India ahead."
Kher further commenting on Priyanka Gandhi's must-spoken about candidature on the Varanasi seat against PM Modi he claimed that 'nobody is of his strature'
He said, "There is nobody except Modi, in Varanasi she (Priyanka Gandhi) said it for a long time that I will contest against him, I will contest against him but that did not happen and today we saw the passion for Modiji, how can we not consider that?"
"Priyanka Vadra had said it again and again that she wants to contest against Modi if Rahul ji says, I don't think Rahul said 'you don't do it', but yes, I feel nobody is of his strature."
Prior to this, BJP's sitting MP Kirron Kher from Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency, who is once again contesting against old rival Pawan Kumar Bansal from the seat, slammed the Congress leader for spreading "rumours" against her development work in the last five years.Kher had defeated Bansal from the seat in 2014 Lok Sabha elections by a margin of around 70,000 votes.
