Amid the 2019 Lok Sabha election, parties are going at any lengths to effectively campaign for their candidates. Not to be left behind, the Samajwadi Party is trying to outdo its rivals by pulling new stunts every day.

Taking a leaf out of its key political opponent's book the BJP the party announced that a look-alike of its leader and UP CM Yogi Arityanath called 'Babaji' will be campaigning for the party across the state barring Gorakhpur and will tell the government's truth.

In a tweet, former UP CM said:

"हम नक़ली भगवान नहीं ला सकते पर एक बाबा जी लाए हैं। ये हमारे साथ गोरखपुर छोड़ प्रदेश में सबको सरकार की सच्चाई बता रहे हैं। (We cannot bring a fake God but we have brought a Baba. He will travel across UP except Gorakhpur to tell the government's truth."

Earlier the BJP, after Yogi Adityanath faced a 72-hour ban by the EC, brought a saffron-clad doppelgänger of Yogi Adityanath to campaign with Rajnath Singh. The Election Commission had banned him for giving polarising speeches in Uttar Pradesh while his poll campaign.

The Samajwadi Party had a few days ago pulled a stunt where it had replaced its Varanasi candidate Shalini Yadav with ex-BSF jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav. But the strategy backfired as Yadav's nomination as the Samajwadi Party candidate from Varanasi was rejected by the Election Commission.

To add to the embarrassment, the SP candidate who was replaced with Tej Bahadur Yadav also refused to withdraw her nomination.
