Seat share projection
In 2014, BJP led NDA secured a massive majority of 73 out of 80 seats in the state, and out of the seven remaining seats, two were won by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi at Rae Bareli and Amethi respectively, while the five others were won by the Yadav dynasty in the state. Compared to 2014 Parliamentary elections, in 2019 the BJP seat-share is predicted to go down by over 10 seats, which will benefit the SP-BSP Mahagathbandhan.
The key battle in the seat is between Samajwadi Party's Mulayam Singh Yadav and Prem Singh Shakya from the BJP.
Samajwadi Party's Mulayam Singh Yadav is predicted to win the seat. He had won the seat even during Modi wave of 2014. He had also made an emotional appeal during his last rally in the election campaign. The Yadav stronghold of Saifai also lies in the Lok Sabha constituency.
