In a press conference on Thursday, BSP supremo Mayawati slammed the Congress party of being in contact with the BJP and accused them of benefiting the BJP by fielding candidates accordingly. She also gave an explanation for her ally and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's "Namo for PM" remark in the Parliament.
Slamming the Congress party and appealing the voters to vote for the gathbandhan for change, she said:
"The Congress party is similar to the BJP, they also talk rubbish about SP-BSP alliance. It is clear that both the parties are in conspiring against our gathbandhan(SP-BSP). They are contesting the election together in Uttar Pradesh against us. This is the main reason that Congress party people are saying that even if BJP's candidate can wins the election, SP BSP candidate should not win. They have a castiest mindset, and Congress party has fielded its candidate in most of the seats to benefit the BJP. Our partyand I am calling them 'ek hi thali k chatte batte' (chips of the same block) since the beginning. In such a condition, if people are voting for Congress party then they are actually benefitting the BJP. Therefore people of this state should not waste their vote by casting it in favour of Congress. Only if you cast vote for the gathbandhan candidates, we can defeat the BJP."
Further, on Samajwadi Party supremo Mulyam Singh Yadav's "Namo for PM" remark in the Parliament, she said:
"Our country knows that he is old and therefore he wanted to say something else but praised the PM instead. He did not want to bless PM Modi. But I would like to ask the Congress party that Rahul Gandhi is not in his old age, why was he hugging the PM in the Parliament?"
Mayawati also tweeted about the same:
