Breaking her silence on Samajwadi Party supremo Mulyam Singh Yadav's "Namo for PM" remark in the Parliament,  BSP supremo Mayawati gave an explanation. In a press conference on Thursday, she also slammed the Congress party of being in contact with the BJP and accused them of benefiting the BJP by fielding candidates accordingly.

On Samajwadi Party supremo Mulyam Singh Yadav's "Namo for PM" remark in the Parliament, she said:

"Our country knows that he is old and therefore he wanted to say something else but praised the PM instead. He did not want to bless PM Modi. But I would like to ask the Congress party that Rahul Gandhi is not in his old age, why was he hugging the PM in the Parliament?"

Yadav had said in the last session of the Lok Sabha:

"We want you to become the Prime Minister once again."

"It's our wish that all MPs should win again.  This is my heart felt wish. (inaudible) it's very difficult to manage the (unclear). The chair you are sitting on. You have to please every MP in this parliament. It's very difficult to please and not everyone can be pleased. We have experienced this whenever we argue.

When he talks, I would only like to say, you have managed the parliament really well.  I want to congratulate the Prime Minister. Prime Minister, you have worked for everyone. This is absolutely correct, whenever I asked for something you immediately ordered for it. Anything wrong, you corrected it. I really appreciate and respect you for taking everyone along. (inaudible) It's really difficult to please everyone. But still, nobody speaks against you or makes any comment against you. For this, I would like to congratulate you. And I hope, along with the Parliament that you should win again. This is my wish. We couldn't win the majority. We want you to become the Prime Minister once again," he said.

Last year, the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi claimed that although the BJP might hate him, he does not reciprocate to the emotion in the same way, and following that walked over to PM Modi and embraced him.
