Trouble mounts for Salman Khurshid after an NCR was filed against the senior Congress leader, accused of making controversial remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
A non cognizable offence information report (NCR) has been filed by Raydeepchandra, VSP's state media in-charge in Uttar Pradesh' Farrukhabad for hurting 'religious sentiments' and insulting the BJP leader.
Congress party's Farrukhabad candidate Salman Khurshid revitalising the Batla House encounter had dared CM Yogi Adityanath to debate with him on the issue in a Gaushala.
"Whom does Yogi want to fight? I am happy Yogi wants to debate with me. I want to tell him that he can debate about the matter anywhere with me, even in a Gaushala. TO know if the cow supports him or not."
The comment comes after Yogi Adityanath during his campaign rally in Farrukhabad's Mohammadabad questioned Khurshid's support to Batla Encounter terrorist. "One should question as to why the Congress’s Farrukhabad candidate Salman Khurshid went to defend the Batla house terrorists," he said, as per media reports.
PM Narendra Modi on April 20 while accusing the Congress of having "vote-bhakti" (devotion for votes) than "deshbhakti" (nationalism) also spoke on the Batla House encounter.
"The politics of 'vote bhakti' was again on display when the Congress insulted martyrs of the Batla House encounter in New Delhi by casting doubts over the operation in which security personnel were killed," he said.
In 2008, on September 19, a team of Delhi Police had raided a Batla House flat in south Delhi following a tip-off that terrorists involved in the September 13, 2008 serial blasts in the national capital, were holed up there.
Meanwhile, the UP CM sparked yet another controversy on Friday after the EC's 72 hours ban on his speeches ended. He asked voters whether they would vote for opposers of Bajrang Bali or the progressive PM Modi, while addressing a rally at Sambhal, UP.
"Do you wish to hand over the reins of the country to a person who calls himself Babur's descendant? Do you wish to hand over the reins to opposers of Bajrang Bali?", he asked, making another communal reference.
