In a major embarrassment for the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samajwadi Party (SP-BSP) alliance in Uttar Pradesh, a video has been accessed from Ghazipur district in the state wherein the SP and BSP supporters can be seen engaging in a fist fight ahead of the joint rally of SP-BSP-RLD on Monday.
The video shows SP and BSP workers, who were waiting for the joint rally in Ghazipur to start, broke into a huge clash as they engage in verbal spat. Gathbandhan workers in huge numbers were waiting for the joint rally to start at the incident took place. However, the reason for the clash is yet to be ascertained.
Further, the video shows the stage with empty chairs, all set for the gathbandhan leaders to address the rally.
The rally was later addressed by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati sharing the stage together along with other gathbandhan leaders.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) announced their an alliance for the 2019 Lok Sabha election in January. Both party chiefs had asserted that they will contest on an equal number of Lol Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Out of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, SP-BSP alliance decided that they will field candidates on 76 seats, leaving Amethi and Raebareli for the Congress party.
Former UP CM and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is contesting from Azamgarh in the 2019 polls, a seat which was won by his father and SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav in 2014 elections.
Meanwhile, six phases of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections are over with one last phase to go on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
