Alleging that the 'gathbandhan' will start abusing each other post-polls, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, on Saturday, has hit out at Akhilesh Yadav likening him to Aurangazeb who imprisoned his father and called the 'gathbandhan' a disaster-survival combination.

(The one who dethroned his father like Aurangazeb joined forces with the sworn enemy of his father. After May 23, the ones who will continue abusing each other, those 'mamhamilavati' people are behaving today, like how a scorpion, frog and snake com together during a flood.)

In New Poll Stunt, SP Gets 'Babaji' Resembling Yogi Adityanath To 'travel All Over UP Barring Gorakhpur To Tell Truth About Government'

Earlier in the day, Akhilesh Yadav addressed a rally in Adityanath's home ground Gorakhpur accompanied by the Yogi-resembling 'Babaji' who Yadav claimed will be campaigning for the party across the state barring Gorakhpur and will tell the government's truth.

Adityanath's attack is the latest in a series of controversial comments. On May 7, he made a communal remark saying 'previous governments did not provide electricity on Holi and Deepavali but gave electricity on Eid' while addressing a public meeting in Domariaganj constituency in Siddharth Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh.

"We never gave houses based on one's caste. This used to happen during the previous government's reign. Electricity then had a caste and religion. Electricity was provided in 4 districts of the 75 districts in the state, while the remaining 71 districts were left deprived. There was no electricity on Holi and Deepavali, while electricity was provided on Muharram and Eid," he said.

This comment by Adityanath was on the same lines as of those by PM Modi when he had said if people get electricity on Ramzan, they should also get electricity during Diwali while addressing a rally in the state before the 2017 state Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier on May 4, while interacting with the media in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, on being asked about the degrading comments used during election rallies by political leaders, Yadav alleged that PM Modi too had been taught to use the 'chillam' by UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

"It is of grave concern to BJP that UP Chief Minister (Yogi Adityanath) and his officers have taught Prime Minister Modi how to have 'chillam' (pipe). I don't know whether they smoke 'chillam' or not. But those people who mocked us calling 'tonti-tonti' (tap) are the ones who are the 'chillam' people," said the SP chief.

This attack was a retaliation to current UP government's allegation that Yadav, while vacating his government bungalow in 2017, had stolen spouts of taps.

In response, Yadav had said, "They should know that when we (SP-BSP) come to power then first we will search for the 'chillam' (pipe) in Baba's (Yogi Adityanath) possession."

BJP this time faces the combined force of SP-BSP coalition and the Congress in the race for Uttar Pradesh's 80 Lok Sabha seats. While there were rumours of Congress UP (East) General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra may contest against PM Narendra Modi for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, hopes for that mega political battle were quashed when Congress announced Ajay Rai as its Varanasi candidate. While Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi is fighting against BJP Union Minister Smriti Irani for the Amethi constituency on May 6, former UP Chief Minister and BSP Supremo, Mayawati is not contesting in this Lok Sabha season. Results of the Lok Sabha polls are scheduled on May 23.
