After performing the Ganga Aarti at Dashshwamedha Ghat at the end of the mega roadshow, PM Modi, on Thursday, addressed the crowds at Varanasi saying the ways in which Kashi has changed him - personally and politically.
"Many have asked that what has Modi done for Kashi? But before that, I would like to explain what changes Kashi has brought in me. It is my good fortune that I could associate with Kashi's Vedic traditions and other educational experiences. This prasad from Kashi has helped me in making my personal and political life successful. Kashi's spiritual principles have inspired intellectuals like Mahatma Buddha, Goswami Tulsidas, Sant Ravidas, Kabirdas, and Ramanand. Truth, justice, non-violence, and knowledge inspired principles have helped me too to follow their path. Through these great individuals of Kashi, in my inner consciousness, this spirit flows through me endlessly that apart from the country's welfare I will not think about any other welfare."
Speaking about his bond with Kashi when he arrived, five years ago, he said that Kashi had captured a traveller like himself.
"Five years ago, when I stepped on the Kashi soil, I said Ma Ganga has called me. The call of the mother and the love given by the brothers and sisters of Kashi is so abundant, that a fakir (traveller) like me has also become attached to the roads of Kashi."
He also added how Kashi had assumed the role of a teacher for him, inspiring him to think differently.
"Kashi's everlasting lessons and traditions is an introduction to its teaching capabilities. As an MP, I got the opportunity to become aware of my consciousness. To think in new and innovative ways, Kashi has played a major role. For this, I salute Baba Vishwanatha and Maa Ganga with complete sincerity."
