A fresh controversy emerged minutes after Shatrughan Sinha was seen campaigning for his wife Poonam Sinha, who is SP's candidate from Lucknow, rather than his own party candidate Acharya Pramod Krishnam. While addressing the media Acharya Krishnam requested Mr Sinha to " fulfil the duty towards his party". 

Now, reacting to the statement made by his party candidate, Shatrughan Sinha made it clear that 'family comes first than party'.

"Party bohot pyaara hai mujko lekin parivaar se baad kar nahi ho sakta hai. Yeh parivaar ke prati kartavya hai mera."

(I love my party but family is my priority. Family comes first. This is my duty towards my family.)

Earlier, talking to the media, Acharya Krishnam said: 

"Mai Lucknow vasiyon ke seva karunga. Lucknow ke dharti ke raaj ko apne maathe ka tilak samjhunga. Aur mai Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi ka bohot aabhar hoon ki unhone mujhe Lucknow ke iss Mahabharat mai utarne ka mauka diya". 

(I will serve the people of Lucknow. Will wear the soil of Lucknow as the tilak of my forehead. I am thankful towards Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for providing me with opportunity to fight this battle.)

Reacting o the campaign of Shatrughan Sinha for his wife, Acharya Krishnam requested:

"Mai Shatrughan Sinha se mila unke saath hi baitha tha. Shatrughan Sinha ji Congress ke candidate hai Patna se. Mai Shatrugun Sinha ji se darkhast karna chahta hoon ke Vo Patna se chunav laad rahe hai unka chunav mai vaha se ladanga aur yaha vo mere chunav ladaye. Unhone patni dharam nibahaya hai aap party dharam bhi nibahaye".    

(I met Shatrughan Sinha. Requesting him as he is a congress candidate to campaign for me in Lucknow . He should follow party protocol . I wanna say only congress will win in Lucknow and not any other party. If he wants I will also campaign for him in Patna Sahib. He fulfiled his duty towards his wife now it's time for his party.)

Earlier, the candidature of Poonam Sinha was announced by SP president Akhilesh Yadav, a day after Poonam Sinha joined his party. She joined the SP the day Rajnath Singh filed his nomination papers, hoping to retain the seat he won in 2014.

Shatrughan Sinha recently quit the Bharatiya Janata Party and joined the Congress. He will take on Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in Bihar's Patna Sahib Lok Sabha cconstituency.
