Union Minister Smriti Irani on Monday launched a blistering attack at Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over her "outsider" remark. Speaking to Republic TV, BJP candidate from Amethi Smriti Irani asked Priyanka Gandhi to not do 'drama'.
"I would like to tell her that I have been an actress, so she should not do the natak (acting)," she said speaking to Republic TV.
Speaking on the 'outsider' remark by Priyanka Vadra, Smriti Irani took a jibe at the Gandhi family:
"If she is talking about some outside, she might be talking about those who came from Italy because I am an Indian."
On being questioned on Priyanka Vadra's election candidature from Varanasi, the Union Minister alleged that the Congress president must be 'afraid' of his sister's electoral entrance.
"Rahul Gandhi must be afraid since Priyanka Vadra has come in, his tail has reduced and now if she fights the elections, whatever leftover respect he has even that will end. So if now the brother-sister are fighting, why drag me in the middle? I say, get all the relatives you have, in India, Italy" she added.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra targeted Smriti Irani while speaking at a rally in Amethi and called her as an "outsider".
"Election is here and so many outsiders are also are trying to spread lies that Rahul Gandhi does not visit. You know the truth. The objectionable thing was that Smriti Irani ji came here and she distributed shoes among the people. She thought she is insulting Rahul Gandhi but she insulted Amethi people. You must understand what is happening in this election. Lie, trying to divert the attention of people, and a campaign which is different from reality. I am roaming around UP East and witnessing the miseries of the people. Wherever I am going, people are facing difficulties, I am noticing," she said.
