Congress president Rahul Gandhi responded to the questions of the media over his sensational admission in the Supreme Court that he made the statements over the Rafale case in the “heat of political campaigning”.
Speaking to media over the development, Rahul Gandhi reiterated his "Rafale challenge" at Prime Minister Narendra Modi claiming that "everything will become clear (Doodh ka doodh paani ka pani ho jayega) after the debate.
The plane should not be made in India, Indian youth should not get employment, French citizens should get employment, this France PM has said about Narendra Modi. I make it clear that I challenge Narendra Modi to debate with me on corruption, wherever he wants It will be an open debate. 15 minutes the debate will go on for. There will me and Narendra Modi only. He will not be able to show his face in front of the nation. Everything will become clear (Doodh ka doodh paani ka pani ho jayega). I challenge Narendra Modi to debate with me," Rahul Gandhi said.
In the end of his statement, he went on to pronounce, "Chowkidar chor hai'.
Taking to Twitter on Monday, Rahul Gandhi also posted a tweet, saying that on May 23, justice will be established.
"On May 23 (when the result of 2019 elections will come out), it will be declared in the Parliament that Lotus branded (BJP) Chowkidar is the thief (Chor). Justice will prevail. Chowkidar who looted from the poor to fill the pockets of his rich friends will be punished," the Congress president wrote on his Twitter.
Earlier on Monday, Rahul Gandhi replied to BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi's contempt petition in the Supreme Court and admitted that he made the statements over the Rafale case in the “heat of political campaigning”, adding that he "regrets" his comments.
BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi, who filed the complaint said that she is satisfied to the extent that Rahul Gandhi's lie has been exposed.
Rahul Gandhi triggered the controversy saying that "Supreme Court has accepted that 'Chokidar Chor Hai'", while addressing the press in Uttar Pradesh after filing his nomination papers in Amethi.
"Supreme Court ne nyay ke bare mai baat ke hai. Supreme Court said Chowkidar ne chori ke hai (Supreme Court will do justice. Supreme Court said that Chowkidar is involved in a theft)", Gandhi had.
