Hours after West Bengal minister Ranta Ghosh Kar sparked a controversy with her remark on the CRPF Jawans, BJP MP Roopa Ganguly has slammed her and the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool claiming that they have lost their ability to fight the elections and are applying 'terror tactics'.

Responding to the controversy Roopa Ganguly said:

"These people are talking about democracy when they never went to vote. There are many people like this who never went to vote. Like this lady Ratna. She is proving that democracy means nothing to them (Trinamool). People will show them, people are saying that every vote will go to Modiji. This is the only tactics they have, terror tactics."

Meanwhile, sources said that the state election machinery will take cognisance of the matter with the returning officer & district machinery likely to examine the issue.

Further, CRPF sources said that the paramilitary force works under the supervision of the state election commission, and that as an organisation, the CRPF would prefer to stay away from any election related issues apart from deployment and security.

On Wednesday, in yet another election controversy, West Bengal Minister of State for MSME and textiles, Ratna Ghosh Kar, gave a controversial speech at a closed-door meeting at Chakdaha, Nadia district in West Bengal.

"Nothing is fair or unfair in a war. There are democratic or undemonstrative ways to do it.  You have to win (the war) by any means. I have seen it in 2016 elections, how the Central forces (CRPF) have beaten up our boys (Trinamool workers). There was a bloodbath. This time it is more challenging. There is nothing to be scared," she said recounting the 2016 state polls.

Further, she instructed the women members to 'chase the CRPF away with broomsticks'.

"I will go to each and every polling booth, irrespective of the presence of the CRPF Jawans. And if the CRPF is taking pro-active action, then I request the Mahila sangh (women's wing) members to pick up broomsticks and chase them away from our area," she said.
