  • Permission to land Shah's chopper has also allegedly been denied

According to sources, BJP president Amit Shah has allegedly been denied permission by the West Bengal government to hold a roadshow in state's Jadhavpur district. Sources add that permission to even land his chopper has been denied. This is allegedly the fifth time that the BJP chief has been denied a nod to hold a political campaign in the state. He was set to address three public meetings in the state.

Following this denied permission, the BJP purportedly plans to file a petition to the Election Commission and will also likely address a press conference regarding the same at noon on Monday.

Speaking on the matter, union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the 'constitutional machinery had been demolished in the state and goon-raj is rampant. This had happened earlier also. The Trinamool is scared that someone else will steal their votes'

Mamata Blocks Yogi Again, Denies Permission For Purulia Rally Days After Blocking Chopper Landing In Malda

This is hardly the first time that such a 'denial of permission' has taken place. In February, the West Bengal administration had denied UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath permission to land his chopper in Purulia, post which she also allegedly blocked him from holding a rally in Purulia. Adityanath then travelled by road to hold other rallies in the state.

Following this, Yogi had taken to Twitter to launch a scathing attack on Mamata and her TMC government. He called their decision as undemocratic and vowed to fight against it.

("Sadly, now that our Bengal is suffering due to the chaos of Mamta Banerjee and its government, the time has come that West Bengal should be liberated from this government and to save the constitution through strong democratic movement.")

After Amit Shah & Yogi Adityanath, Mamata Banerjee's Government Now Blocks Rahul Gandhi's Chopper From Landing

Apart from BJP, Congress too has allegedly been blocked by the Trinamool-led state government to campaign in the state. Rahul Gandhi had allegedly also been denied permission to land his chopper in Siliguri in April.

West Bengal which is voting in all seven Lok Sabha phases has witnessed bouts of violence in every phase of election with PM Modi severely criticizing Banerjee for her support to hooliganism and Banerjee hitting out at the Prime Minister for trying to make people forcefully chant 'Jai Shri Ram' in West Bengal. BJP chief Amit Shah is insistent that his party will win at least 23 seats in the state.
