In an unprecedented incident, TMC goons attacked the Republic TV crew in West Bengal's Asansol amid the violence that broke out in the constituency while the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections were underway.
The visual show the windshield of the car smashed to pieces. Republic reporter Shantashree narrates the horrific incident, saying that the car was kicked by the TMC goons as well. The goons are roaming across the sector with lathis and sticks with which they attacked the Republic crew which was in Asansol for the news report.
Furthermore, the goons allegedly hurled abuses at the crew while it was reporting from the sector while polling was underway. The crew was chased away from the spot while reporting was underway.
However, no Central forces were present at the moment when the Republic TV crew was attacked by TMC goons.
While the law and order situation in the sector has been comprised, earlier, Union Minister and BJP leader Babul Supriyo's car was also attacked allegedly by the goons of the Trinamool Congress party. As per reports, other media crews have also been attacked by the mob in West Bengal.
On Monday morning, as the nation came out of their homes to cast their votes in the fourth phase of polling in Lok Sabha elections, West Bengal's Asansol saw violence as rift broke out between workers of BJP and Trinamool Congress outside the polling station, following which police resorted to lathi-charge on the crowd.
In the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections, nine states are going to the polls today with 72 seats up for the grabs. In West Bengal, eight constituencies are witnessing polling including, Baharampur, Krishnagar, Ranaghat (SC), Burdwan East (SC), Burdwan-Durgapur, Asansol, Bolpur (SC) and Birbhum.
