In a scathing attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool, the West Bengal BJP said that the party has called the Bangladeshi actors in this campaign and may call Pakistan- origin actors next time.
Calling a press briefing, the party said that Mamata Banerjee has lost all faith in her ability to win the upcoming elections and is acting desperately. Showing three video clips, they explained each one by one. Talking on the controversy of Bangladeshi actors campaigning for Trinamool, the party said:
"Ferdous Ahmed who is campaigning in Islampur and Madan Mitra is campaigning with Gaji Noor, another Bangladeshi actor. Mamata Banerjee is explaining her weakness through these actions. Trinamool is useless and she cannot trust anyone. Till now her campaign involved many film stars from the Bengali film industry, now she is unable to trust even those. She has always sought the Muslim vote, but now she is bringing Bangladeshi actors and making them campaign for her.
They went on to allege that:
"Today Bangladeshi actors have come, tomorrow Pakistani actors will come. Mamata Banerjee wants to survive in West Bengal with the help of Bangladeshi actors or Pakistani actors or may be Pakistani extremist elements."
Alleging that the Additional Chief Electoral Officer of the state is favouring the Trinamool, the party claimed:
"Sanjay Basu gives statement that they can bring Bangladeshi actors, it does not come under the MCC. MCC is not violated. But BJP will not hear him. We want to say clearly, this is a process of choosing India's democracy. How can a foreigner come to campaign for it? This has never happened in 100 years. There are VISA rules. There has been infringement of teh VISA rules. They have not followed the VISA rules. They can either come on a tourist VISA or business VISA, none of them gives them right to be a part of the process of nation formation. We went to the CEO and CEO has assured that he will investigate the matter."
Attacking the Trinamool further, the BJP spokesperson said:
"They cannot fight the strength of BJP therefore they are resorting to this level. We have brought this issue under the scanner of Election Commission. Those who have done these actions, we have specified their names, we have also filed an FIR, and in a systematic manner, we have gone to the EC and we appeal that they should be arrested. If they will be arrested, such hindrance from the Trinamool will stop to some extent. If action is not taken, these miscreants will create a mess as they did during Panchayat polls. Mamata Banerjee should announce that Trinamool does not have the machinery and the leadership to campaign in the elections. She should leave the campaigning fray. Because the type of disgraceful campaigning she has begun, Bengal's politics has been marred. After stooping to such a level, I feel Trinamool has no moral right to contest the elections."
