With many Bollywood celebrities, sports stars coming out to fight a political battle this Lok Sabha Elections, WWE superstar wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, better known as Great Khali in the World will stand next to his friend Anupam Hazra as he files his nomination tomorrow in Kolkata as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Jadavpur candidate for the general election. The rally will begin at 11 am and the ‘Great Khali’ will participate alongside Hazra.

According to the reports, Hazra said that Khali is a good friend and is coming to Kolkata specially to stand by him just for the sake of friendship. He also clarified that he doesn't believe in 'stereotype politics where only political figures come to stand by candidates'.

Hazra will fight against Trinamool’s Mimi Chakraborty, a popular Bengali actor, in Jadavpur. While the CPI(M) candidate is Nandini Mukherjee.

Back in 2017, when Khali met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, he had then said: "I have no plans to join politics as of now, But can't say about future as the weather keeps changing from morning to evening."

Hazra also said: "Khali is popular globally and is a youth icon and many of my supporters requested me to do something exceptional. I thought this was a unique platform to bring in Khali."

Expelled Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Anupam Hazra joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in March. Hazra had won the 2014 election from Bolpur in West Bengal. Hazra joined the BJP at the party's headquarters in the presence of Kailash Vijayvargiya.

The TMC leadership had expelled the Bolpur MP for anti-party activities on January 9.
