Delhi Elections 2025: Eight Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs who quit the party yesterday have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) today in the presence of Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and other office bearers.

Welcoming the MLAs and leaders to the BJP, Panda said it is a "historic" day as they have gotten rid of "AAPda" (disaster) and hoped that after the February 5 polls, Delhi too will be freed from it.

8 AAP MLAs who joined BJP,4 days ahead of the Delhi Elections are:-

  • Pawan Sharma (Adarsh Nagar)
  • Girish Soni (Madhipur)
  • Rajesh Rishi (Janakpuri)
  • BS June (Bijwasan)
  • Bhavana Gaur (Palam)
  • Rohit Mehraulia (Trilokpuri)
  • Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar)
  • Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli)

Most of the MLAs had shared their resignation letters on social media, slamming AAP over allegations of corruption and other issues.

‘Lost Faith In You’: What Did MLAs Say In Their Resignation Letter

Palam's Bhavna Goud, in her resignation letter, expressed her disappointment with party chief Arvind Kejriwal , stating, "I have lost faith in you."

Meanwhile, Naresh Yadav accused AAP of abandoning its founding principle of "honest politics."

In his letter, Yadav claimed that the party, instead of fulfilling its pledge to reduce corruption, had "become entangled in the swamp of corruption itself," referencing the Delhi liquor policy case, in which former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his former deputy Manish Sisodia were jailed for several months.

Rohit Kumar Mehraulia, the Trilokpuri MLA, took to X to explain that he had joined AAP during the Anna Hazare-led movement against corruption, hoping to secure social justice for the Dalit and Valmiki communities.

He said, "The AAP promised to uplift these communities, but failed to address crucial issues such as scrapping contract-based labour and ensuring temporary workers are absorbed permanently."

Rajesh Rishi from Janakpuri also cited growing disillusionment with the party's deviation from its core values.

In his resignation letter, Rishi criticized AAP for betraying the principles of corruption-free governance and transparency it was founded on. A former supporter of Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement, Rishi alleged that the party had turned into a "cesspit of nepotism and corruption."

Madan Lal, the outgoing MLA from Kasturba Nagar, claimed that he and six other party legislators had resigned from AAP's primary membership. Lal also mentioned that they had sent their resignation letters to Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel.

Elections to the 70-member Delhi Assembly are scheduled for February 5, with the vote count set for February 8.
