New Delhi: The counting of votes for bypolls to 13 assembly seats across six states were held on Saturday. The seats that went to byelections are Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagda, Raiganj, and Maniktala in West Bengal; Rupauli in Bihar; Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu; Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh; Badrinath and Manglaur in Uttarakhand; Jalandhar West in Punjab; and Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh.
The byelections were necessitated in various seats due to the death of candidates in many of these constituencies.
AAP candidate Mohinder Bhagat was declared winner from the Jalandhar West seat. He won by a margin of 37,000 votes. The counting went on for 13 rounds.
Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's wife Kamlesh Thakur registered a big win by a margin of over 9,000 votes from the Dehra Assembly seat. BJP's Hoshiyar Singh stood at second spot.
TMC candidate Krishna Kalyani won this seat by a margin of 50,077 votes. Kalyani defeated BJP's Manas Kumar Ghosh by securing 86,479 votes.
TMC's Madhuparna Thakur clenched this seat by a margin of 33,455 votes. BJP's Binay Kumar Biswas stood at second spot with 74,251 votes.
