Srinagar: The Election Commission on Thursday issued a notification for the filing of nomination papers by candidates for the second phase of upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir for which voting will be held on September 25.
Polls will be held for 26 assembly segments spread over six districts of Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi.
The last date for filling nomination papers will be September 5, while the papers will be subjected to scrutiny on September 6, according to the notification. The candidates can withdraw from the polls till September 9.
The Election Commission of India on August 29 issued a notification for the filing of nomination papers by candidates for the second phase of the upcoming assembly in Jammu and Kashmir. As many as 26 seats will vote in the second phase of polling on September 25.
Electorate Details for Srinagar District
Eight seats of Srinagar district will be going to polls in the second phase and 7.74 lakh electorate of the union territory's summer capital are eligible to cast their votes.

The seats where polls will be held in the second phase are Kangan, Ganderbal, Hazratbal, Khanyar, Habbakadal, Lal Chowk, Channapora, Zadibal, Eidgah, Central Shalteng, Budgam, Beerwah, Khansahib, Chrar-I-Sharief, Chadoora, Gulabgarh, Reasi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Kalakote-Sunderbani, Nowshera, Rajouri, Budhal, Thannamandi, Surankote, Poonch Haveli and Mendhar.
Polling and Result Timelines
Polling will be held from 7 am to 6 pm, while results of all phases will be declared on October 4.
First Assembly Elections in a Decade
Jammu and Kashmir is holding its first assembly elections in a decade to elect a government after over six years of Central rule. Voting will be held in three phases. The first round will be held on September 18, the next two phases on September 25 and October 1, with the results announced on October 4.
Multi-Cornered Fight Expected
The election is expected to witness a multi-cornered fight for the 90 seats across the erstwhile state. While the National Conference and the Congress are fighting the elections in an alliance, the People's Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are the two other major players.
