Is it just a co-incidence that two of the most-loved love stories of Hindi cinema released on the same day? While the iconic Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge hit the screens on October 19 in 1995, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein too hit the screens six years later. Though it wouldn’t be right to compare Rehnaa Terra Hai Dil Mein to the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer, the movie has a following of its own. R Madhavan and Dia Mirza too got excited with the latest milestone related to their film, 18 years. The best part was the former saying a romantic line to his co-star, almost like his character Maddy did for Reena in the movie, saying how she looked the same even today.

As RHTDM, as it is often called, completed 18 years on Saturday, Dia Mirza shared a GIF of hers and Madhavan from the movie, asking fans to share their best moments related to the film and writing, “Rehna hai tere dil mein - forever"

While fans recalled their fondest memories of the movie, one of the main names to make it possible, Madhavan too commented. He said, “It seems to me like yesterday... especially since you look the same my lady @deespeak …" Like Reena, Dia Mirza was once again impressed by her ‘Maddy’ as he posted a heart for him.

RHTDM also starred Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. The story was about Maddy falling in love with Reena, and wooing her after impersonating Saif’s character Rajeev.

Rehnaa Hai Terre Hai Dil Mein was directed by Gautham Menon and was a remake of his own Tamil film Minnale starring Madhavan and Trisha in lead roles. The movie was not a huge success as such commercially, but enjoyed a cult following after it premiered on TV.

RHTDM songs, composed by Harris Jayaraj, is among the most popular of all time. Sach Keh Raha hai Ye Deewana, Zara Zara, Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua, and multiple title tracks are still popular today.
