Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's magnum opus '2.0' which released on Thursday has been really well received. In spite of the somewhat mixed responses, the box office collections have been quite good.
Recently, filmmaker Karan Johar took to Twitter to share that the film that the film has earned over Rs 500 crores worldwide.
"A box office PHENOMENA!!!! 500 crores worldwide!!!!! We at @DharmaMovies are so proud to be associated with the HINDI version of this movie marvel!!!!" he tweeted
Here's the tweet!
The film is said to be a visual spectacle, there's no doubt in that. Watching the film in 3D was akin to witnessing a big budget Hollywood film. This film is a must watch in 3D! Rajinikanth rules the screen from frame one as the scientist, the benevolent robot and finally as 2.0, the evil robot with an attitude. His charisma is awe-inspiring and anyone can appreciate why he is so revered down South.
The action sequences are said to be jaw-droppingly spectacular, especially the final set-piece in a stadium. However, the film suffers somewhat when it comes to plot. '2.0' seems to have a genre confusion as it starts as a murder mystery, then becomes a full-fledged action flick. Akshay Kumar is good as Pakshirajan, the ornithologist who has a beef against humans for killing his precious birds, but the message seems preachy and overdone.
The sci-fi flick has done really well in the North Indian market with many takers in Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar circuits. For a South Indian film, these collections and positive response are almost unheard of. Of course, this is not taking into account the figures from the South Indian states where the Rajinikanth starrer has been smashing records.
