This Diwali saw the release of one of the most awaited films 'Thugs Of Hindostan' that created waves before its release with the starcast that included Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina Kaif. While one expects it to stand true to its ground with a larger than life approach to movie-making, TOH falls flat when it comes to execution. Many suspected the film to be on the lines of international hit franchise 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' when the trailer released. As netizens vouch for all that 'glitters is not gold', here's taking a look at the uncanny resemblance characters and moments from this film has with that of the Johnny Depp starrer. Disclaimer: This might make you nostalgic!

Khudabaksh vs Captain Barbossa

'Thugs Of Hindostan' starring Amitabh Bachchan as one of the characters named Khudabaksh seems familiar to 'Pirates Of The Carribean' fans. Wonder why? Stark similarities can be found in their appearances and their fondness of keeping a pet by their side. While Barbossa finds his friend in a monkey, Khudabaksh has an eagle as his ally. These pets also mark their entrances in both the films. Besides, who isn't aware of the age-old rivalry and camaraderie between Sparrow and Barbossa which was mirrored in Firangi and Khudabaksh. With comic relief that comes by Firangi's acting chops to smoothen out the seriousness of Khudabaksh's heavy persona, it was all too familiar for the eyes that have watched the Caribbean series carefully.

Firangi vs Jack Sparrow

Like the perfectionist he is, Aami Khan got into the skin of Firangi, a character that resonated with Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow way too much. On a refreshing note, Sparrow's sense of humour in an Indian set up is fun to watch, yet it seemed more like a hit and miss. Along with that, Firangi's allegiance is a question throughout the film, making it seem like it was picked up straight from the Pirates series itself. Baring similar looks, Firangi and Sparrow even shared the quirks that made their characters unique.

Action Sequences

If background score and looks weren't enough, we have the epic action sequences that dance to the tunes of the international hit franchise. Be it the well-coordinated Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley's fight sequence or that of Barbossa and Sparrow, 'Thugs Of Hindostan' has hues and shades looming large over its high-octane action sequences that don't fail to take you down the memory lane with its execution.

Backdrop

From the launch of the first looks of the characters itself, masses started drawing similarities between the stage on which the foundation of 'Thugs' is set. The background of the sea sure makes it seem like a pirates film but the pirates here are on to a different purpose altogether. However, that doesn't stop this fantasy-drama from drawing inspiration from 'Pirates' from time-to-time, be it the iconic battle on ships or the ones off it.
