Bollywood star Aamir Khan recently extended his support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to ban single-use plastic in the country. While addressing the nation on the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day from the Red Fort, PM Narendra Modi raised concern over plastic pollution and urged fellow countrymen to quit the use of the same. He also pitched for launching a 'new mass movement' against single-use plastic from October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Now, actor Aamir Khan also came forward advocating for the cause. The actor who has been vocal about several social issues recently took to social media and put out a Twitter post hailing the initiative by the PM Narendra Modi. Aamir Khan urged fans to curb 'single-use plastic and said that every citizen should support the movement.

While addressing the nation from the Red Fort on August 15, this year, PM Narendra Modi asked fellow countrymen to quit the use of plastic.
"Can we free India from single-use plastic? The time for implementing such an idea has come. May team be mobilized to work in this direction. Let a significant step be made on 2nd October," the Prime Minister had said.

PM Narendra Modi had further invited industries and startups to help recycle plastic.
Aamir Khan is known for dealing with social issues in Indian society. Besides being an actor, Aamir is also known to be an activist and humanitarian who is closely involved with several social reforms. Years back, the actor hosted a television talk show 'Satyamev Jayate', through which he highlighted sensitive social issues. He has been listed among the 'most influential people in the world' for his active participation in battling issues such as poverty, education, abuse, and discrimination.
Aamir Khan along with wife Kiran Rao runs an initiative called the Paani Foundation which works on drought prevention and watershed management in the state of Maharashtra. It is a non-profit, non-governmental organization.
On the professional front, Aamir Khan who last appeared in 2018 venture 'Thugs of Hindostan' will be next seen in 'Lal Singh Chaddha', the official remake of the 1994 Hollywood cult classic Forrest Gump. As per media reports, while Aamir Khan will take up the titular role in the film, the film will also star Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi as his friend. However, there is no official confirmation on the same.
