Aamir Khan who has always ruled the roost at the box office had a misfire with his latest release. 'Thugs of Hindostan' which is struggling to earn Rs 150 crore is all but ready to get out of theaters. The criticism from the audience has been quite harsh and the collections reflect that. Now, Aamir has finally broken his silence on the matter.

At an event, the actor finally spoke about the film and said that he takes full responsibility for it. He confessed that he is really sorry that he could not entertain everyone like every time but added that the film's team really tried their best. Aamir also said that he is aware that only a very small portion of the audience liked his film and he takes full responsibility that he could not keep them engaged as an actor. He added that he is particularly sorry that he could not meet the expectations of the people, which was sky high before the film came out.

On being asked if the criticisms were a little too harsh, Mr. Perfectionist said that they have the right to speak their mind. Whether it is a good or a bad response, they should express themselves freely but again added that the team did try their best.

Meanwhile, the Vijay Krishna Acharya directorial has become one of the biggest debacles for the actor in over a decade. There are even talks that theater owners have gone to YRF and the actor to repay for their losses as the film barely registered any footfalls after the first weekend. Some say that the film has fared even worse than Salman Khan's 'Tubelight', for which he had compensated the theater owners. Going further back, Shah Rukh Khan had done a similar repair job when his film 'Dilwaale' failed to connect with the audience.

But knowing Aamir and his brilliant vision and sense of story, this was perhaps a rare misfire and one can rest assured that he will bounce back with something spectacular next.
